About the Job The primary duty of a BPA is to protect American citizens by preventing cross-border crime, including smuggling and human trafficking.
This requires working closely with colleagues and other agencies, such as CBP officers at ports of entry, to identify potential threats and respond quickly.
BPs also play a critical role in enforcing immigration laws and regulating trade at official ports of entry.
In addition, they may be involved in search-and-rescue operations for those attempting illegal crossings or stranded migrants.
