Job Summary: Deliver exceptional healthcare services by performing Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and related procedures to produce detailed sectional anatomic images. This role requires a professional approach to patient care and technical expertise in MRI technology. Essential Responsibilities:
Conduct MRI procedures, ensuring patient clinical history aligns with the imaging protocol and is properly documented for licensed practitioners. Prepare patients by providing clear instructions to achieve optimal imaging results while minimizing anxiety. Operate MRI equipment and accessories, selecting appropriate scanning parameters and protocols as directed by radiologists. Position and immobilize patients comfortably to best capture the anatomical area of interest. Apply magnet safety principles to protect patients, self, and others from hazards. Assist licensed physicians during procedures and verify all necessary documentation. Address both physical and psychological patient needs throughout the imaging process. Perform venipunctures and administer contrast media safely as prescribed. Maintain and care for imaging equipment and related technical instruments. Evaluate image quality, adjust display parameters, and ensure proper identification on hard copy records. Initiate basic life support when necessary and perform diagnostic radiographic procedures as needed. Educate patients and their families about tests and procedures in a compassionate manner. Manage assigned work areas, including cleanliness, equipment functionality, and supply restocking. Provide practical instruction to students and healthcare professionals. Participate in quality assessment and improvement initiatives within the department. Maintain knowledge of sterile supplies and techniques relevant to MRI procedures. Recognize anatomical structures using computer-generated imaging systems. Record patient histories and pertinent information accurately in electronic systems. Release imaging media to authorized parties following proper protocols. May participate in on-call duties to provide technical support outside regular hours. Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of an approved School of Radiographic Technology. Computer proficiency. Experienced radiographer with knowledge to successfully complete MRI procedures and maintain continuing education in cross-sectional anatomy. Licensure and Certifications:
Certified by the relevant state authority. Registered Technologist (R.T. (R)) ARRT or equivalent in good standing. ARRT certification as R.T. (MR) required at hire or within two years of employment.
