Job Description

As the Head of Infrastructure and Linux Architecture, you will oversee the design, installation, maintenance, scalability, and retirement of our systems. You will ensure that our IT infrastructure and Linux architectures are secure, reliable, and efficient. Collaborating with IT leaders, developers, and stakeholders, you will align IT strategy and architecture with organizational goals.

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Leading the definition and management of IT infrastructure and Linux budgets, as well as vendor contracts.
  2. Troubleshooting and resolving IT issues while providing technical support and guidance to end-users and stakeholders.
  3. Evaluating and recommending new technologies and optimizing existing IT solutions.
  4. Reporting on IT performance, metrics, and risks, and communicating IT strategy and goals to senior management.

Proven experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining high-availability, scalable, and secure infrastructure and Linux architectures is essential. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with both technical and non-technical audiences, are required. You must also be able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This role is based at our headquarters in Thalwil, Zurich, CH.

Your Responsibilities
  1. Manage Linux and Infrastructure Teams composed of IT professionals, including server administrators, support technicians, and consultants.
  2. Plan, implement, and monitor IT projects, such as system upgrades, migrations, and integrations.
  3. Develop and maintain IT policies, standards, and procedures, and ensure compliance with best practices and regulations.
  4. Establish and enforce best practices, standards, and guidelines for Infrastructure and Linux architectures, configurations, administration, security, and performance optimization.
  5. Evaluate and recommend new and emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance the Infrastructure and Linux environment and the related capabilities.
  6. Manage and monitor the u-blox Infrastructure and the Linux architectures, ensuring availability, reliability, and resilience.
  7. Lead and participate in architecture reviews, audits, and assessments, ensuring compliance with internal and external policies and regulations.
Your Skills and Experience
  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  2. At least 10 years of experience in Linux system administration, configuration, and management, preferably in a large and complex IT environment.
  3. At least 5 years of experience in leading and managing IT teams, projects, and budgets.
  4. Proficient in Linux operating systems, such as Red Hat, CentOS, Debian, or Ubuntu.
  5. Familiar with Linux-based technologies, tools, and frameworks, such as LAMP stack, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, Apache, NGINX, etc.
  6. Knowledge of IT infrastructure components, such as servers, storage, network, security, backup, and disaster recovery.
  7. Experience in cloud computing platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  8. Fluent in English, both written and spoken; any other language is a plus.
