We have an exciting opportunity for a (Senior) Principal Process Development Engineer (m/f/d) to join our growing GaN team.

As a technical expert in compound semiconductor fabrication processes and product integration, you will take responsibility for the development, enhancement and optimization of Nexperia’s GaN fabrication processes globally. Join us on our fantastic GaN journey as we incorporate wide band gap technologies to enable more efficient energy solutions, from increasing mileage on electric vehicles to improving the power density of the next chargers. We are seeking open-minded, unconventional thinkers with a passion for problem-solving and the drive to make tomorrow’s vision today’s reality. The successful candidate can be based in our offices in Hamburg, Manchester, or Munich with remote working also considered from selected locations within Europe.

What you will do
  1. Define, develop, and further improve GaN front-end fabrication processes across manufacturing sites with a focus on device performance, quality, reliability, processing efficiency, and cost.
  2. Develop test structures to screen the fab process and the device efficiently, with a primary focus on improving ohmic contacts and intermetal stacks.
  3. Plan and lead projects, identifying requirements and financial impact with a focus on the evaluation and setup of 8” GaN processing capability.
  4. Carry out risk assessments and problem-solving activities using data from trials, lab investigations, formal problem-solving methods, and peer review.
  5. Specify device design and application requirements.
  6. Implement specific and relevant GaN fab process performance metrics and support reporting, project documentation, and product release processes.
What you will need

Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a similar discipline, PhD preferred. In-depth understanding of semiconductor wafer fabrication processes the potential impact device characteristics, especially for III-V technologies and GaN. Proven track record in leading and managing complex multi-disciplinary projects. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to communicate and negotiate effectively at all levels within the organization and to encourage teamwork across geographical and cultural boundaries. Ability to lead by example and to motivate engineers throughout the organization, bringing and sharing knowledge of GaN processing and related fields.
