Context & Mission

Médecins Sans Frontières is an independent, international medical and humanitarian organization that provides care to people in need, people affected by natural or man-made disasters, and victims of armed conflict, without discrimination and without regard to race, religion, creed or political affiliation (MSF Charter).

The Head of IT Partners & Application is a key role within the IT department. The responsibilities encompass understanding the goals of MSF individual departments, identifying suitable technology solutions, and leading the team responsible for the existing application landscape.

This role requires technical expertise, strategic thinking, and effective communication to drive efficient IT solutions and support overall MSF objectives.

Responsibilities

Strategic Activities

  • Align technology initiatives to the goals of MSF departments, ensuring that IT solutions support the organization’s overall objectives. This will be done in partnership with the other IT team, in particular the IT integration and innovation team.

Landscape

  • In partnership with various stakeholders (IT, OCG, MSF…), define the future of the application landscape. Guardian of the application architecture for the existing environment.
  • Effectively lead a team of IT partners and application managers, leveraging the collective knowledge of MSF to drive and deliver the right solutions. Team member responsibility includes:
  • Facilitate the creation of a roadmap for the existing applications, taking into account regular upgrades, ongoing fixes, and continuous improvements.

Support

  • Ensure the team provides adequate support to users with a service mindset.
  • Assess and mitigate risks related to IT systems and applications. Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Building relationships with technology vendors and negotiating cost-efficient contracts.
  • Larger projects will be managed by the IT integration and innovation team. Effectively collaborate with that team (and with the IT Operation Services team) to identify and deliver the right solutions.

Budget Control

  • Managing the IT budget and reporting on expenditures.
Your Profile

Experience / Skills

  • Are you an effective leader, comfortable with relying on a team of experienced individuals, finding the right balance between empowerment and mentoring?
  • Do you have a large experience with business applications? Do you have a creative mindset, understanding how applications can best serve an organization?
  • Are you natural at fostering relationships? Are you comfortable dealing with stakeholders at various levels?
  • Do you enjoy active collaboration, engaging others to dream the best solutions, pushing the boundaries for a better outcome?

Languages

  • Fluent in both French and English
Terms of Employment
  • Full or part-time contract
  • Open-ended contract
  • Ideal start date: As soon as possible
  • Gross annual salary (for 100%): from CHF 109’560.- to CHF 124’980.- (salary commensurate with equivalent experience and internal salary grid)
  • Paid vacation: 25 days per year, prorate temporis, plus any Swiss public holidays falling within the contract period.
  • Pension plan: pension contribution covered 3/4 by MSF, 1/4 by staff member.
  • Relocation package if moving from a different country to Switzerland.
