*Summary: *
The Pediatric Occupational Therapist (OT) is responsible for providing evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation services to children in home and community settings. This role focuses on helping pediatric clients develop or regain skills needed for daily living, fine motor development, sensory integration, and independence. The OT assesses, plans, and implements individualized therapy programs, monitors progress, and adjusts goals as needed. Services emphasize family-centered care, collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, and supporting each child’s growth, participation, and overall quality of life.
*Job Qualifications:*
* Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
* Current and valid Occupational Therapy license in the state of practice.
* At least 1 year of experience in pediatric occupational therapy preferred (home health or early intervention a plus).
* Current CPR certification.
* Reliable transportation, valid auto liability insurance, and valid driver’s license
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Comfortable working independently in various home environments.
*Job Responsibilities & Essential Functions:*
* Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations and assessments tailored to pediatric clients (birth to 21 years old).
* Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address motor, sensory, cognitive, self-care, and play skills.
* Utilize evidence-based interventions to promote age-appropriate developmental skills in the natural home setting.
* Collaborate with families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary teams to support carryover and progress in daily routines.
* Educate families and caregivers on strategies and home programs to facilitate development and independence.
* Document evaluations, treatment sessions, progress notes, and discharge summaries in accordance with agency, state, and federal guidelines.
* Monitor and report on client progress; modify treatment plans as necessary.
* Maintain timely and accurate documentation in electronic medical records (EMR).
* Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and professional development activities as required.
* Adhere to ethical and legal standards set forth by AOTA and applicable licensing boards.
*Physical Requirements*
* Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of therapy equipment and materials.
* Must be able to move, sit, kneel, squat, and stand for extended periods during therapy sessions.
* Frequent sitting on the floor or in child-sized furniture.
* Adequate vision and hearing to assess and treat pediatric clients effectively.
* Must be able to enter and exit homes, including navigating stairs or uneven terrain when needed.
