What You’ll Do
Lead structural design for infrastructure and commercial/industrial projects
Serve as Engineer of Record on select projects
Coordinate directly with architects, contractors, and internal teams
Produce and review calculations, drawings, and specs
Handle RFIs, site visits, and construction support
Mentor junior engineers – not just in structural tasks and without doing all their work
What You Bring
PE / SE license in Illinois (or ability to obtain within X months)
5+ years of structural design experience
Strong knowledge of IBC, ASCE, AISC, ACI
Experience with tools like RAM, ETABS, RISA, SAP2000 (pick your weapon)
Ability to communicate clearly and make decisions without overthinking

Primary Position Duties
Performs structural engineering calculations and design using specialized technical skills, experience and structural engineering judgment to transform concept designs into construction drawings and technical specifications. Performs research to gather pertinent data; complete detailed analyses of data and calculations as necessary; preparation of plans for submittal to various cities and agencies, construction documents and all supporting documentation; provide project team leadership in meeting schedules and budget; prepare written communication to client and agencies. Performs work of considerable difficulty in the review of construction contract documents, compliance with applicable State and Federal Codes, and completeness with emphasis on building sites and environmental systems; reviews preliminary and final plans and specifications for four types of reviews: constructability, life safety and accessibility, risk management, and program area; makes recommendations for additions, deletions, substitutions when modifications are necessary. Prepares draft correspondence, technical specifications and reports; attends and participates at client meetings, as appropriate; communicates with project team members, client representatives, review agencies, and others as appropriate to the project; coordinates final design computations with review agencies; coordinates utility disposition on projects with involved utility companies; prepares draft cost estimates, periodic reports covering construction activities, pay estimates, and data necessary to document acceptability of materials and quantities for final payment; makes periodic visits to construction sites. Participates in project team meetings and follows procedures outlined in Project Management Standards manual. Assists in preparation of project budgets and schedules.
Position Requirements
Fluent English with reading, written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams and other video conferencing software.
Ability to collect and analyze data, apply problem solving skills to multiple projects, develop creative solutions, work alone or as part of a project team, and demonstrate attention to detail.
Effective communication skills are essential for this position.
Education or Skills
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering.
Registration as an Illinois Licensed Structural Engineer, active and in good standing.
Current Driver’s License.
Minimum of five (5) years structural engineering experience (preferred).
