About
We are responsible for provisioning, managing and supporting the customer‑facing DB infrastructure. We ensure efficient functioning and high availability of this infrastructure — databases, cloud services, platforms and applications.
Champion our new Database platforms You will analyze, design, implement and operate mission‑critical database services using Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
Responsibilities
Support day‑to‑day operations with large‑scale, highly available, reliable, high‑performing transactional (OLTP) databases hosted in geo‑distributed, cloud‑based datacenters.
Provide Oracle expertise with performing database operations with minimum or zero downtime.
Act as a liaison for database‑related problems between operations, architecture, development, and QA groups.
Automate routine database operations using scripting or cloud automation tools.
Mentor junior DBAs.
Participate in architecture and incident review boards.
Qualifications
5 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
5+ years of Oracle experience, supporting highly available transactional systems (4‑9 s).
Advanced knowledge of Oracle troubleshooting and performance tuning for PL/SQL and the database in a cloud environment.
5 years of experience as Oracle DBA with routine automation experience.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including experience working with culturally diverse and geographically distributed teams.
Effective communication with Program Management, InfoSec, Engineering, QA, and Operations personnel.
Deep knowledge of Cloud DevOps principles.
Required to undergo or possess and maintain a successfully adjudicated USG Tier 3 background investigation.

Compensation Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US‑based candidates only, the base salary ranges from $88,900 to $160,100 per year; salary is determined by experience, skills, certifications, and location. Compensation may also include incentive bonuses, equity awards, and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Eligibility requirements apply.
