What You’ll Do IronArch Technology is seeking an
Associate Engineer
to support the Consular Appointment Management Platform (CAMP) program at the U.S. Department of State. CAMP is a mission‑critical modernization effort that will unify consular scheduling worldwide, improving how American citizens and foreign nationals access essential services.
This role is designed for an early‑career engineer eager to gain hands‑on experience in federal IT modernization. You’ll work directly with senior engineers and the technical lead, contributing to development tasks while learning secure, accessible, and scalable coding practices. You’ll participate in Agile delivery cycles, supporting features that impact millions of global users.
Key Responsibilities
Contribute to the design, coding, and testing of CAMP features under the guidance of senior engineers.
Support integration of CAMP with other Department of State systems, focusing on reliability and compliance.
Write and maintain testable, accessible code that meets federal cybersecurity and Section 508 accessibility standards.
Participate in Agile ceremonies (stand‑ups, sprint planning, retrospectives) to align with team goals.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teammates, product managers, designers, DevOps, to deliver sprint commitments.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues, escalating as needed to senior staff.
Continuously develop technical skills by learning modern DevSecOps practices (CI/CD, automated testing, infrastructure‑as‑code).
Requirements
Public Trust Clearance or higher (ability to obtain and maintain required background investigation).
Preferred Experience
2+ years of related experience in software engineering, development, or systems integration.
Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS preferred) or eagerness to learn.
Understanding of RESTful APIs and web development fundamentals.
Interest in learning secure coding, accessibility, and Agile/DevOps practices.
Current authorization to work with the Department of State or other federal agencies.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
(#LI‑remote) Remote with up to 10% travel required.
