What We Are Looking For The ideal candidate for this position will have extensive experience in the water heating or HVAC industry, primarily with tankless water heaters and/or boilers and knowledge of heat pumps, air conditioners and furnaces. The candidate would have a full understanding of all WH or HVAC concepts and experience presenting those to specific audiences. This person must also understand troubleshooting products and installations of the units. The training content creator/training support is responsible for leveraging this knowledge for creating, maintaining and delivering high caliber technical training to internal staff, reps, customers and contractors. This role directly supports Navien’s business operations. Therefore, essential attributes include excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to multitask and remain focused in high‑pressure situations. In addition, the candidate must be highly self‑motivated and able to work independently, including in critical areas requiring the exercise of discretion and independent judgment, have a positive attitude and be resourceful and enthusiastic about training and continued growth.
Responsibilities
Use discretion and independent judgement to evaluate and determine training objectives, write and develop and conduct virtual training sessions that support Navien’s business operations, and lead post‑training Q&A along with providing comprehensive technical and sales support
Relies on experience and independent judgment to plan and accomplish goals
Occasionally holds training at any of Navien’s training academies or in remote locations to cover demands as required
Create and update all training materials and programs under the general guidance and direction of North America Director of Training
Help create and maintain interactive training materials such as multimedia presentations, simulations, and e‑learning modules
Attend in‑person events, workshops, and product demonstrations throughout U.S. and Canada
Step in to conduct technical in‑person field trainings and product demonstration in support of the Sales and Training Division as needed, to assist during trainer absence or due to overflow
Experience and competence in using hand tools and test equipment relevant to the water heater/boiler and HVAC industry
Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant technical standards throughout U.S. and Canada
Travel as needed for training, trade shows, training needs and sales events. Up to 50–75% travel per month required
Perform all other duties as assigned and required
Requirements
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Outlook, MS Teams and PowerPoint
Ability to use programs such as Articulate 360 to create an internal online LMS platform
Strong presentation/public speaking skills and strong customer service skills
Willingness and ability to speak to groups as large as 100+
Can work well under general and limited supervision
Ability to prioritize direct business operations functions while working in multiple roles/functional areas: training, content creation, and sales support
Complete and submit, by the required deadlines, all training and expense reports. Respond in a timely fashion to all emails and phone calls
Completion of degree at a trade school (electrical, plumbing or HVAC) or equivalent work experience preferred, as well as knowledge and expertise in a related area and 2–4 years of experience in the industry
Gather feedback from trainees to help improve training experience and inform new training materials
Capable of using good judgment and discretion when exposed to confidential information
Trade School or Contractor’s License EPA or Gas or an AA in Education or Communications is a plus
Pay Scale $74,000 - $80,000 Base Salary (DOE) + eligible for an annual bonus
