Mechanical Design Engineer Minneapolis, MN (Onsite) Full time Job Description & Skill Requirement: NPD experience Experience in designing sheet metal, casting and rotomolded components using SolidWorks Working experience in tolerance stack up analysis, Freebody diagram and Machine design calculations. • Own the end to end mechanical architecture at machine level. • Define subsystem partitioning, mechanical interfaces, load paths, and packaging strategies. • Drive cross discipline alignment with electrical, embedded systems, controls, and manufacturing teams. • Structural Design & Engineering Analysis • Perform and guide Free Body Diagram (FBD) analysis to: • Establish load cases • Validate force transmission paths • Support early architectural decisions • Lead modal analysis to control vibration, resonance, and noise in mobile cleaning equipment. • Apply analytical and simulation based methods to ensure stiffness, stability, and reliability. • Manufacturing Processes & Design • Lead mechanical design using: • Rotationally molded plastic components • Sheet metal fabrications • Castings • Ensure optimal trade offs between strength, weight, cost, tooling feasibility, and serviceability. • Tolerance Engineering • Own tolerance stack up analysis at subsystem and system levels to ensure: • Functional fit • Assembly robustness • Performance consistency over life • Perform tolerance analysis using: • Analytical methods • Enventive tolerance analysis tools • Define GD&T strategies aligned with manufacturing capabilities. • DFM & DFA Leadership • Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) early in the design cycle. • Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing teams to: • Reduce part count • Simplify assemblies • Improve build quality and repeatability • CAD, Design Governance & Reviews • Create, review, approve, and release designs using SolidWorks. • Establish mechanical design standards, modeling best practices, and drawing guidelines. • Lead design reviews at architectural, detailed design, and production readiness stages. Qualification: • 'Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. • Post-Diploma in Product Design, Tool Design
