What You Will Be Doing: As a Senior Data Engineer, you will design, build, and optimize modern data pipelines within a cloud-based ecosystem. You will play a critical role in enabling data-driven decision-making by ensuring reliable, scalable, and high-performance data integration solutions. This role operates in a fully remote environment and collaborates across cross-functional teams to deliver impactful data solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using modern data tools
Build and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and functions
Develop and maintain source-to-target mappings and detailed ELT documentation
Implement and manage Change Data Capture (CDC) processes
Troubleshoot and resolve data pipeline and integration issues across systems
Collaborate with data analysts, engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver data solutions
Work with cloud platforms (AWS) to orchestrate and manage data workflows
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for data engineering workflows
Perform data validation, testing, and quality assurance for pipeline outputs
Participate in on-call support rotation for production ETL processes
Provide accurate estimates for development efforts and recommend process improvements
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to best practices and standards
Required Skills & Experience:
3+ years of hands-on experience with ETL/ELT data integration and transformation
3+ years of experience writing and optimizing complex SQL (queries, stored procedures, triggers, functions)
Experience with Matillion ETL platform
Strong experience with AWS services (e.g., Lambda, data pipeline orchestration)
Proven experience implementing Change Data Capture (CDC) strategies
Experience with full lifecycle development, end-to-end testing, and data validation
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience working in Agile or fast-paced team environments
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)
Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Desired Skills & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field
Experience with data warehousing platforms such as Snowflake
Familiarity with data governance and cataloging tools (e.g., Atlan)
Experience with BI/reporting tools such as Looker
Strong understanding of large-scale data optimization techniques
Experience with unit testing frameworks for data pipelines and data quality validation
Ability to mentor junior engineers and lead small-scale technical initiatives
Experience integrating ETL pipelines into CI/CD workflows
Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies and DevOps best practices
Pay: $98,000 - $140,000 /yr.
