Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer – Medical Devices Location: Waukesha, WI (Day 1 Onsite) Client: GE HealthCare Duration: Long-Term Contract Pay Rate: $40/hr on W2 Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with strong experience in electromechanical product design and development, preferably within the medical device industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for product development, design validation, cost reduction initiatives, and supporting NPI/NPD activities from concept through production. This role requires hands-on expertise in Creo CAD, manufacturing processes, DFMEA, testing & validation, and engineering documentation. Key Responsibilities Design and develop electromechanical medical products and subsystems Support new product introduction (NPI/NPD) activities from concept to production release Create 3D models, assemblies, sheet metal parts, surface models, and 2D drawings using Creo CAD Perform product/subsystem cost reduction and value engineering activities Develop and review engineering drawings with GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis Design plastic, sheet metal, and die-cast components with manufacturability considerations Conduct component and subsystem level testing and validation Create DFMEA and identify potential product risks Work closely with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, sourcing, and suppliers Support ECO/ECR activities, EBOM creation, and engineering documentation in Windchill PLM/PDM Ensure compliance with design standards, quality requirements, and best engineering practices Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field Experience in electromechanical product design and development Prior experience in medical device/product design, development, and verification Strong proficiency in Creo CAD: 3D Modeling Assembly Design Surface Modeling Sheet Metal Design 2D Drawings Hands-on experience with: Sheet Metal Plastic Part Design Die Cast Components Manufacturing Processes Experience with testing and validation activities Knowledge of DFMEA, DFM/DFA, material selection, and design best practices Experience with Windchill PLM/PDM, ECO/ECR workflows, and EBOM creation Strong understanding of GD&T and tolerance analysis Excellent communication and teamwork skills Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment Preferred Qualifications Experience working in regulated medical device environments Familiarity with product verification and validation processes Exposure to cost optimization and value engineering projects Soft Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Positive attitude with a strong focus on quality Excellent collaboration and presentation skills Self-driven and detail-oriented professional
