Job Overview GCI's Network Engineer I applies engineering principles to multiple sub-groups within Technology Solutions, responsible for architectural design, development, implementation, and support, following telecom industry standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AT ALL LEVELS
Ensure integrity of high-availability network infrastructure for maximum performance in design, implementation, and support.
Understand GCI standard engineering concepts of availability, efficiency, redundancy, scalability, and security.
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of current network and system facilities.
Maximize performance with monitoring tools, troubleshoot outages, schedule updates, and collaborate with architects on optimization.
Maintain professional skillset via education, organizations, and publications.
Provide detailed reports on network operational status and project milestones.
Provide remote site support for off‑site personnel and customers.
Coordinate with project management and engineering teams, support escalation events, update documentation, and mentor junior staff.

Job Requirements Level Definition Position Title: Network Engineer I Grade: E05
Education / Experience
– Minimum of one year experience or equivalent; high school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Technologies, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred.
Technical Skills
– MS Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel); knowledge of standard network engineering concepts; ability to create and edit network diagrams.
Driving Requirements
– Requires reliable transportation for occasional travel.
Physical & Working Conditions
– Sedentary work, computer usage; ability to work shifts, weekends, holidays; compliance with remote work policies; emergency after‑hours contact required.
Additional Responsibilities (Summary)
Supported on‑call and after‑hours emergency support for SMC/NOC.
Participated in troubleshooting bridges and cross‑pillar collaboration.
Identified and developed solutions for incident management, MACD requests, and logical maintenance.
Developed best practices for account management, access authorization, and vulnerability remediation.
Reviewed hardware critical spares, vendor procurement, and third‑party support.
