Job Description LS Technologies, a Tetra Tech company, is seeking a Survey Engineer to support FAA FMDS work across the US and its territories. The Survey Engineer will provide operational expertise in the operation and maintenance of National Airspace System (NAS) facilities, systems, subsystems, and equipment. This role supports FAA mission needs through technical and operational assistance, with direct technical and operational ATC experience preferred. Frequent travel is required as needed to support program activities.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Provide operational support for FAA FMDS-related survey and technical efforts.
Support the operation and maintenance of National Airspace System (NAS) facilities, systems, subsystems, and equipment.
Assist with technical and operational activities in support of FAA mission requirements.
Apply practical knowledge of NAS systems to support maintenance and operational readiness.
Coordinate with FAA personnel and program stakeholders as needed.
Support troubleshooting, issue identification, and resolution activities related to NAS equipment and systems.
Contribute to field support, operational assessments, and related technical tasks.
Provide site-specific reports and documentation after each facility visit.
Provide travel documentation that meets the FAA specifications and standards.
Document on‑site activities while adhering to FAA requirements and expectations.
Coordinate on‑site activities with FAA technicians.
Perform additional duties in support of FAA program objectives.
Qualifications Required
10+ years of engineering experience
High School Diploma
Experience supporting operational or technical work in a mission‑critical environment
Strong understanding of NAS facilities, systems, subsystems, or equipment
Ability to travel frequently as required
Strong communication, problem‑solving, and teamwork skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced FAA support environment
Preferred
Direct technical and operational ATC experience
FAA experience supporting NAS operations or maintenance
Experience with FAA field support, equipment troubleshooting, or operational systems
Familiarity with aviation or air traffic control environments
Experience working on government or federally regulated programs
Work Requirements
Work location: Remote
Work Hours: 40 hours per week
Travel: 75%
Physical Requirements
Extended computer use: Regular and prolonged periods of working at a computer terminal
Lifting and carrying: Occasional lifting of equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds may be required during installations or maintenance
Mobility: Ability to move around the office environment to access computer hardware, networking equipment, and server rooms
Dexterity: Manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate computer equipment, troubleshoot issues, and perform tasks requiring precision
Sitting/standing: Both prolonged sitting and occasional standing may be required for troubleshooting and attending to system issues
Background check: Must have ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust

Compensation The projected compensation range for this position is provided within the posting and is based on full‑time, 40 hour/week status. The displayed minimum and maximum represent the broadest range for this position (inclusive of high geographic and high clearance requirements) and is just one component of our total compensation package for employees.
