About
Altru Rehabilitation Hospital, part of Altru Health System in Grand Forks, ND, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Speech Pathologist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will provide evaluation, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment for patients with speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders across a variety of ages and clinical conditions. Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team, you will partner closely with physicians, nurses, occupational and physical therapists, case managers, patients, and families to develop and implement individualized treatment plans that promote optimal communication and safe swallowing for improved quality of life. Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive speech and language assessments using standardized and functional measures, interpreting test results, and clearly communicating findings and recommendations to patients, families, and the care team. You will design and deliver patient-specific therapy interventions, provide education and training to patients and caregivers, and adjust treatment plans based on progress and clinical judgment. The Speech Pathologist will document all evaluations, treatment sessions, goals, and outcomes in the electronic health record in a timely and accurate manner, while adhering to regulatory, ethical, and institutional standards. You will contribute to discharge planning, home exercise and communication programs, and the coordination of care with community resources when appropriate. This position offers the opportunity to work with both inpatient and outpatient populations, including individuals recovering from stroke, traumatic brain injury, neurological conditions, head and neck cancer, and complex medical and surgical conditions. You will participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives, and may provide mentorship to students or newer clinicians as appropriate.
