Description :
We are seeking a
Technical Lead – Backend Java Developer
to drive a high-impact
AI modernization initiative
focused on real-time data processing and event-driven systems. This role is ideal for someone who has led backend engineering efforts in environments where
speed, reliability, and scalability are critical , particularly within
public safety, emergency response, or alerting systems .
You will play a key role in designing and leading modern architectures that support
real-time messaging, data streaming, and AI-driven capabilities .
Key Responsibilities
Lead design and development of
scalable backend systems
using Java
Drive architecture for
event-driven and real-time data processing systems
Oversee modernization efforts incorporating
AI/automation into existing platforms
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver
high-availability, mission-critical solutions
Required Experience
12+ years of backend development experience, with strong expertise in
Java
Proven experience in a
Tech Lead or Lead Developer role
Experience with
AI integration or modernization initiatives
Experience with
cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Experience with
high-volume messaging systems and fault-tolerant design
Hands-on experience with:
Event-driven architecture (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.)
Real-time data streaming and processing systems
Experience working on systems related to:
Emergency alerting / public safety platforms
Police, fire, or first responder communication systems
Disaster response or government-related technology initiatives
Strong understanding of
system design, scalability, and distributed systems
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
Background working with
FEMA or similar disaster/emergency alerting systems
Exposure to
GIS, geospatial data, or mapping technologies
Languages
