Senior Network Engineer
Contract Type:
6 months, with potential extension of temp to hire opportunity
Police Infrastructure support experience preferred.
Only local candidates will be considered - Must be available for in-person interview with client in California.
Yardi experience preferred.

Overview
Under the direction of the Director of Information Technology, this role involves leading initiatives with a focus on planning researching, analyzing, and recommending security measures for all applications, systems, and networks as well as supporting Tier 3 data center design and operations. Furthermore, the role will project lead complex network and telecommunications initiatives, provides assistance on challenging network issues and mentors team members to achieve desired outcomes. The role will also assist the IT Director in developing long-term plans and designs to facilitate the Agency's technological goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Performs analysis and support for the agency's server and network (LAN and WAN) related equipment and network operating systems; and
Provides technical support of the OHA police services system; and
Maintain relevant technical skills to support current technologies and future technology roadmap; and
Collaborates with internal and external resources to deliver high-quality technical service delivery, minimizing risks to technical infrastructure and downtime; and
Maintenance of wireless infrastructure, including but not limited to VoIP troubleshooting, client-server analysis, and other applications analysis; and
Utilizes network analysis tools, including sniffers (such as Wireshark, OmniPeek, TCDump, and Fluke) to troubleshoot client/server, DNS, DHCP, routing, and various application issues; and
Contribute to evolving network processes/procedures to support evolving ITIL and other best practice standards; and
Managing the lifecycle of all network products and services; and
Assists in developing disaster recovery processes and procedures; and
Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently; and
Architects, documents, implements, and maintains network security infrastructure, including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS sensors, and NAC technologies; and
Data Center and IDF closet management; and
Responsible for addressing and resolving critical incidents that may occur after business hours; and
Lead team of vendors, consultants and temp in network projects; and
Manage vendor relationships for networking hardware and service providers; and
Maintain a 24x7 environment to maintain a 99.99 availability metric on the networking environment; and
Implements security controls and performs security audits utilizing industry standard best practices (such as ISO 27001 and DOJ-CJIS); and
Maintain documentation on infrastructure, applications, and associated processes; and
Inventory control for the assets under the responsibilities of the Desktop Engineer/ Service Desk; and
Develops and documents instructions and guidelines to perform the functions assigned and user-facing documentation; and
Managing the invoices and support agreements for services, software, and hardware equipment that support your area's domain of support; and
Demonstrates financial responsibility and accountability by assisting the team leader with developing operational and capital costs during the budget cycle to technical leadership; and
Domain name and SSL certificate management; and
Performs scheduled system maintenance and/or updates within a set timeframe, including addressing and resolving critical incidents that may occur after business hours; and
Performs other duties as assigned.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED with seven (7) years of experience providing advanced technical support for server environments required. At least three (3) of the seven (7) years supporting virtualization technologies and/or building applications in a multi-user environment ie Citrix, VMWare, Microsoft Hyper-V preferred.
Four (4) years degree in Computer Science, MIS, or other computer-related field or equivalent experience in similar IT environments.
Bilingual skills in ASL, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese and/or Spanish are a plus.
Equivalent combinations of education, training and experience will be considered.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
A valid California driver's license and an insurable driving record. May be required to work after-hours maintenance windows and participate in on-call rotation.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
Manage, support, and troubleshoot QoS with VoIP and Video infrastructures, including Juniper, Cisco, Meraki Wi-Fi, and or wired and wireless.
Management and maintenance of various security systems, including firewalls, site-to-site/remote access VPNs, IDS/IPS, and Network Access Control (NAC) (such as Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto),
Ability to:
Expert experience in multiple data center interconnect technologies and architecture. To switch and route in multiple vendor and network environments, capacity planning and architecture (Such as BGP, OSPF, ISIS, PVST, MST, STP, IGMP, PIM, and MSDP), articulate highly technical designs to non-technical leadership.
Ability to use OSI model to support VLANs, Spanning tree, routing, load balancing, and others from layers 1 to 7.
Articulate detailed data flow between each layer. Utilize various packet sniffing technologies in a wired and wireless infrastructure to assist in troubleshooting client/server, routing, and application-related issues (Wireshark, Omni peek, TCP Dump).
Ability to assist with cloud- based network support, disaster recovery planning and testing for highly available infrastructure.
