Nesco Resource is in search of a Sr. Design Engineer to work one of our clients based in Danbury, CT.
JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Design Engineer will lead the design and development of high
performance sensing products, including pressure, temperature, and flow sensors, from concept through production. This role requires deep technical expertise in sensor design, strong ownership of the full product lifecycle, and close collaboration with manufacturing, quality, and certification teams. The engineer will play a key role in advancing new products while improving existing designs for performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the end
to
end design and development of sensor products, including pressure, temperature, and flow sensors, from concept through production and shipment.
Design mechanical and electromechanical sensor components, including housings, sensing elements, and interfaces.
Apply first
principles engineering, modeling, and analysis to validate sensor performance, accuracy, and reliability.
Develop and review detailed CAD models and drawings using SolidWorks; ensure designs meet functional, environmental, and manufacturing requirements.
Collaborate closely with manufacturing to optimize designs for DFM/DFA, cost, yield, and scalability.
Plan and execute prototype builds, testing, and validation, including environmental, functional, and performance testing.
Analyze test data, troubleshoot failures, and drive design improvements.
Support product certification and compliance activities (e.g., pressure ratings, environmental standards, regulatory requirements).
Provide technical leadership, documentation, and design reviews throughout the development process.
Prepare and present technical reports and project updates for internal stakeholders and customers.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices where applicable.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Materials Science, or a related engineering discipline.
5+ years of hands
on experience in product design and development, with direct experience designing sensors.
Proven experience designing pressure sensors, temperature sensors, flow sensors, or closely related measurement devices.
Strong understanding of sensor principles, materials selection, tolerances, and environmental effects.
Proficiency in SolidWorks and experience producing manufacturing
ready drawings.
Experience working in an environment that designs, manufactures, tests, certifies, and ships its own products.
Ability to analyze complex technical problems and develop practical, robust solutions.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Experience with sensor calibration, signal integrity, and accuracy optimization.
Exposure to electronics integration within sensor systems.
Knowledge of applicable industry standards and certifications (pressure, environmental, safety, etc.).
Experience supporting products in production and resolving field or manufacturing issues.
