Job Summary
The Network Engineer is responsible for supporting the integration, sustainment, troubleshooting, and operational readiness of secure IP-based avionics and mission-system networks for RC-135 Rivet Joint, Combat Sent, Cobra Ball, and WC-135 aircraft programs. This position provides direct operational and technical support to the RC-135 (RJ) mission while leading Dell switching integration and sustainment efforts across aircraft and ground support network environments. The role focuses on mission-critical communications infrastructure, secure network operations, and classified systems integration supporting airborne ISR operations. The ideal candidate possesses hands-on experience with Cisco and Dell switching technologies, secure DoD network environments, and avionics or mission-system integration within high-reliability operational settings.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct network integration and operational support for RC-135 (RJ) aircraft mission systems and associated ground support infrastructure.
Lead Dell switching deployment, configuration, sustainment, and troubleshooting efforts supporting mission-critical aircraft and operational networks.
Support configuration, integration, and sustainment of secure IP-based avionics and mission-system networks across RC-135 and WC-135 aircraft platforms.
Configure and troubleshoot Cisco and Dell switching environments including VLANs, STP/RSTP, trunking, ACLs, EtherChannel, and inter-VLAN routing.
Perform CLI-driven diagnostics and structured fault isolation across routing, switching, and interface layers using Cisco IOS and Dell OS10 platforms.
Validate secure communication paths, IP addressing schemes, DHCP/DNS functionality, and network segmentation across integrated aircraft systems.
Assist with integration and testing of classified mission-system networks including CNS, SIGINT, ELINT, RF communications, and multi-domain architectures.
Monitor network diagnostics, subsystem health, and connectivity performance to ensure operational readiness and mission continuity.
Support rack-and-stack integration, structured cabling, fiber connectivity, LAN harness validation, and subsystem connectivity testing in accordance with engineering schematics.
Execute structured test procedures and document discrepancies, troubleshooting efforts, corrective actions, and system validation results.
Coordinate Technical Assistance Requests and engineering support actions with operational field teams using Greenville Big Safari Online (GBSO) systems.
Support engineering modifications, Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTOs), software updates, and communications/network modernization efforts.
Collaborate with cybersecurity, software, engineering, and maintenance teams within Agile development and sustainment environments supporting classified systems.
Assist with outage response, root cause analysis, and recovery actions for mission-critical communications and network systems.
Travel to operational and vendor locations as required to support aircraft modifications, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and sustainment activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Active TOP SECRET SCI Clearance
Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related technical field.
Minimum 3–7 years of experience supporting secure network operations, avionics integration, mission systems, or DoD communications infrastructure.
Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco and Dell switching platforms in operational environments.
Experience with Layer 2/Layer 3 networking including VLANs, STP/PVST+/RSTP, ACLs, inter-VLAN routing, DHCP/DNS, EtherChannel, and TCP/IP troubleshooting.
Experience performing CLI-based diagnostics, structured fault isolation, and network troubleshooting using Cisco IOS and/or Dell OS10.
Familiarity with secure communications systems, avionics networks, or classified DoD operational environments.
Experience performing structured testing, subsystem validation, technical documentation, and troubleshooting within engineering or operational support environments.
Understanding of LAN/WAN networking principles and secure network architectures.
Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to support high-tempo operational environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
Cisco CCNA, CCNA Security, Cisco DevNet Associate, CompTIA Security+, Cloud+, or equivalent certifications.
Experience supporting RC-135, Big Safari, or other airborne ISR mission platforms.
Familiarity with Dell enterprise switching solutions and Dell networking architectures.
Experience with Wireshark, packet analysis, network analyzers, or structured test procedures.
Knowledge of SD-WAN concepts, network automation fundamentals, or virtualization technologies.
Prior military aviation, avionics, or communications systems experience.
Familiarity with Air Force maintenance and logistics systems including GBSO, REMIS, CEMS, or IMDS.
