$150,000–$160,000
Job Overview The Manager, IT Infrastructure Database Manager is responsible for leading the operational priorities and ensuring operational effectiveness within the database engineering and architecture teams.
Roles A role in Information Technology at UNFI involves being a part of the transformation of food for all through many innovative technology products such as myUNFI, our customer ordering platform, and our warehouse management systems. You will contribute to the technology journey by collaborating and building solutions across teams that directly support the OneUNFI strategy. Roles include network automation, infrastructure unification and modernization, data services and analytics, and digital offerings.
Job Responsibilities
Lead the activities, priorities, and solutions of day-to-day database operations through direct and indirect teamwork.
Enforce database technical standards and overall architecture.
Manage the implementation and optimization of enterprise database solutions.
Provide input in the strategic planning of infrastructure and database roadmaps.
Manage vendor relationships and ensure license compliance.
Lead design and ensure compliance with security standards and regulatory requirements, including problem resolution and preventive maintenance.
Coach and develop team members to create a high‑performance culture.
Form collaborative work groups quickly to solve engineering problems.
Provide input into team strategic goals, monitor performance, and perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements Education / Certifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of IT experience and education.
Experience
6–10 years of professional experience in technology, specifically within large‑scale database environments.
Minimum two years of direct people leadership experience and talent development.
Hands‑on expertise with Microsoft SQL Server, DB2, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Databricks, or equivalent databases.
Experience leading geographically distributed teams and managing outsource vendor relationships.
Experience with server virtualization tools from VMWare, Microsoft, Red Hat, Oracle, Amazon, and Google.
Experience with cloud hosting from Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Oracle, or IBM.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Deep knowledge of database management systems and modern data architectures.
Ability to manage geographically and culturally diverse teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to collaborate across teams to achieve results.
Effective feedback and coaching skills that contribute to high‑performance teams.
Ability to connect day‑to‑day operations to talent goals.
Good judgment, especially when direct supervision is not immediately available.
Work Environment Remote. This position is classified as remote; the employee may work from their primary residence. Remote associates may work from the office as needed and may be required to travel to UNFI locations for business reasons or at the manager’s direction.
Physical Environment & Demands Most work is performed in a temperature‑controlled office environment. Tasks may require sitting for long periods, using hands to type or operate equipment, reaching, speaking, and occasionally stooping or bending. Normal office equipment such as keyboards, phones, and calculators will be used.
