Staff Software Engineer – Distributed Systems & Cloud (Remote) A fast-growing healthcare technology company focused on advancing remote cardiac care is seeking an experienced
Staff Software Engineer
to shape the technical direction of its platform and engineering organization. This role is ideal for a senior technologist who enjoys solving complex architectural challenges while influencing how engineering teams build, scale, and deliver reliable software.
As a Staff Engineer, you will operate as both a
hands‑on architect and technical leader , guiding system design across multiple teams. You’ll work on distributed systems that support critical healthcare applications while improving the scalability, reliability, and maintainability of the platform.
You will collaborate closely with product leaders, engineers, and cross‑functional partners to align technical decisions with business goals and customer needs. You will identify opportunities to simplify complex systems, reduce technical risk, and introduce engineering practices that improve quality and speed of delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Design scalable cloud‑based architectures.
Guide system‑wide technical decisions.
Help teams navigate complex engineering challenges.
Strengthen engineering practices such as testing strategies, reliability standards, and operational excellence.
Mentor experienced engineers and influence technical direction across teams.
Technology Stack Node.js, TypeScript, SQL databases (MySQL or PostgreSQL), AWS cloud infrastructure , with a strong focus on scalable SaaS architecture and distributed systems.
Qualifications
Extensive software engineering experience.
Strong cloud and systems design expertise.
Track record of leading technical initiatives that improve engineering outcomes.
Experience building systems in regulated industries such as healthcare or fintech, particularly involving HIPAA‑compliant platforms, device data, or healthcare integrations.
