Job Description: Azure DevOps Platform Engineer (Governance & Enablement)
Location: Tampa, FL (REMOTE)
Type: 1 year Contract
Overview We are seeking an experienced Azure DevOps Platform Engineer to help build, standardize, and govern DevOps platforms across the organization. This role will focus on platform enablement, governance, onboarding processes, and sandbox environment creation, supporting engineering teams in adopting modern DevOps practices.
This is a highly impactful, build-from-scratch opportunity where the ideal candidate can establish structure, bring order to decentralized projects, and enable teams with scalable and secure DevOps solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Define and implement DevOps governance standards across Azure DevOps and GitHub environments
Establish processes for intake, onboarding, and platform adoption
Create and maintain documentation, knowledge libraries, and best practices
Ensure platform compliance with internal security and governance requirements
Configure and manage Azure DevOps (ADO) and GitHub Enterprise environments
Manage repositories, pipelines, permissions, and lifecycle processes
Define and enforce standards for:
Repository structures & branching strategies
CI/CD pipelines and approval workflows
Artifact and dependency management
Access controls
Security and data protection
Cost management and resource usage
Design and implement sandbox/non-production environments for development teams
Build repeatable, scalable processes for provisioning sandbox environments
Partner with engineering teams to understand environments and provide tool access
Support adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD best practices
Create reusable templates, “golden paths,” and onboarding resources
Provide ongoing guidance and support to development teams
Drive standardization across multiple existing tools and projects
Help bring structure to decentralized or unsanctioned DevOps efforts
Monitor adoption, usage, and effectiveness of platform standards
Identify and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and scalability
Required Qualifications
3+ years of experience in DevOps platform engineering, administration, or enablement
Hands‑on experience with:
Experience creating or supporting DevOps platform governance frameworks
Experience building onboarding processes, workflows, or developer enablement programs
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM, etc.)
Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross‑functionally with engineers and stakeholders
Excellent communication skills (must be fluent in English)
