About

Remote | Flexible Schedule | Growth Track to Senior Illumination Accounting & Consulting is a Twin Cities–based firm partnering with small to mid-sized businesses across various industries. We combine accounting fundamentals with modern technology and practical systems to give business owners clarity and confidence in their financial decisions.
We’re growing intentionally and looking for team members who want to grow with us.
The Role We’re seeking an experienced Accountant who enjoys taking ownership of their work and contributing to something that’s building momentum. This is a hands‑on, client‑facing role focused on delivering accurate financials, improving processes, and helping clients operate more effectively.
You’ll manage your own portfolio of clients while collaborating closely with the team. If you’re someone who sees inefficiencies and naturally wants to improve them, this role will feel like a strong fit.
This role is designed with growth in mind, with a clear path to a Senior Accountant position as responsibilities and experience expand.
Responsibilities
Manage full-cycle accounting for multiple clients
Prepare monthly financial statements and complete month-end close
Maintain clean, organized charts of accounts
Process and review accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
Perform balance sheet reconciliations
Monitor budgets and cash flow, proactively identifying issues or opportunities
Work within cloud-based systems including QuickBooks Online and related integrations
Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement
Collaborate with team members using Microsoft Teams and project management tools
Qualifications Required
4+ years of accounting experience (multi-client experience preferred)
Strong understanding of accrual-based accounting
Experience preparing financial statements independently
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Strong attention to detail and clear communication skills
Preferred
Experience working with cloud-based and technology-enabled accounting systems
Interest in improving processes and using tools including automation or AI to increase efficiency
Comfort working in a growing, evolving environment
Real estate and/or construction accounting experience
Inventory accounting experience
Flexible, remote work environment
Direct impact on growing businesses
Exposure to a diverse and expanding client base
Competitive compensation
Opportunity to grow your role as the firm grows
