Job Summary: The Gateway Engineering and Support Engineer role provides advanced technical leadership and operational support for Globalstar’s Gateway Systems. This role interfaces across engineering, reliability, and operations teams to diagnose, resolve, and prevent system incidents – ensuring maximum system uptime and adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
This role also serves as the designated Payload Systems Subject Matter Expert (SME) within operations. They will provide technical ownership, lifecycle oversight, and performance accountability for assigned payload hardware.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties/Responsibilities:
Support monitoring and analysis of Gateway and Payload system performance
Assist with troubleshooting and resolution of operational incidents and service interruptions
Work with engineering, reliability, and operations teams to analyze operational data and identify performance improvements
Support installation, integration, testing, and verification of new Payload systems
Help maintain technical documentation, procedures, and operational guides
Lead in proactive system performance tracking and reporting for Payload systems
Assist with software validation and product testing activities
Lead root cause analysis and corrective action recommendationsParticipate in cross‑training initiatives and technical knowledge sharing
Support a shared on‑call rotation as experience and training progress
Skills and Competencies:
Familiarity with RF Test equipment
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team‑based environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact clearly and concisely with all departments and levels of management
Excellent organizational skills with attention‑to‑detail
Ability to meet multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks
Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Familiarity with NetSuite
Education, Experience, and Licenses/Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related technical discipline
Foundational understanding of RF principles and satellite communications concepts
Ability to interpret technical data and documentationWillingness to learn and develop technical expertise in satellite systems
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in RF, satellite communications, aerospace, or telecommunications
Familiarity with Linux‑based operating systems
Experience with data analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python, Excel, or similar)
Knowledge of Software Defined Radios (SDRs) or FPGA concepts
Physical Requirements:
Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally (valid passport required)
Participation in a shared on‑call schedule after initial training period
Willingness and ability to work after regularly scheduled hours as needed
Ability to sit at a desk for prolonged periods working on a computer (4 to 8 hours)
Ability to operate the equipment used for the job
Ability to lift 15 pounds at times
