What We Look For In a ISEE- Middle Level Tutor
Advanced Test Mastery: Deep knowledge of ISEE Middle Level sections including Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, and Mathematics Achievement covering arithmetic, algebra, geometry, data analysis, and measurement for students entering grades seven and eight. Ability to explain stanine scoring, percentile rankings, and essay scoring criteria while preparing students for competitive independent school admissions.
Strategic Test‑Taking & Problem‑Solving: Skilled at teaching vocabulary strategies, quantitative comparison techniques, and reading comprehension approaches for Middle Level ISEE. Guides students through synonym recognition, sentence completion context clues, algebraic equation solving, geometry applications, and writing a structured essay prompt response. Emphasizes time management across five sections and systematic elimination of incorrect answer choices.
Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with ISEE Middle Level content and common challenges such as advanced vocabulary requirements, quantitative comparison question format, and time pressure across extended test sections. Adapts instruction using official ERB practice materials, vocabulary study programs, and section‑specific timed drills to support sixth and seventh grade students preparing for selective independent school admissions processes.
Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
