Job Description This is a remote position. FBC is offering 1‑on‑1 mentorship with students as part of our Student Supports for Learning program.
Responsibilities
Mentors will connect in person or virtually with youth in the program.
Develop a relationship with mentees.
Help a mentee develop personal and academic skills.
Be a source of support and guidance for their mentee.
Maintain confidentiality.
Attend mentorship training session.
Requirements
Identify as a member of the Black or a member of a marginalized community.
Located in Ontario.
Prior experience as a mentor or similar experience is an asset.
Bilingualism is an asset.
Dependable (keeps commitments, shows up on time, follows through).
Adaptable (shows the ability to overcome adversity in their personal and/or professional life).
Respectful (adheres to program and family rules, interested in learning about the experiences of others, nonjudgmental).
Resilient (can handle common youth “testing behaviors” and is not particularly “rejection‑sensitive”).
Are familiar with the topics being taught such as financial literacy, networking, etc.
Vulnerable Sector Check within the last calendar year.
Experience with being a mentor.
Access to the FBC eco‑system amongst other opportunities.
