Lead General Adjuster - Field
who will be responsible forhandling Regional, and as needed, company-wide largepropertylosses.The adjusteris responsiblefordeterminingtheexposure, evaluating the loss andbring about a timely resolution.In addition to providing exceptional customer service, this adjuster is responsible for controlling expenses and eliminating leakage associated with large property losses.This adjuster will serve as the CAT Coordinator for designated catastrophes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Review new claims assignment to determine the nature and severity of the claim and intended action required. Manageand execute all claim functions such as maintaining proper claims documentation within claims management system,reserving, claim payments, expense factors, and file notes. Make prompt, meaningful contact with insureds or claimants. Maintain proper communication channels with internal and external customers as defined by claims best practices. Conduct a timely and thorough investigation to identify risks/exposures which mayincludeconducting interviews, procuring recorded statements, relevant documents and identify others possessing facts or involvement with the claim – to determine extent and severity of potential loss. Evaluate, manage and/or recommend claim file reserves. Review and interpret policy to determine coverage. Determine and communicate liabilitydecisionwith all relevant parties. Inform underwriting if increased hazards or unusual circumstances concerninga risk/policy exposure. Disposition of claims through effectively negotiating and settling and/or denial. Activelyidentify subrogationpotential and posture claim for successful subrogation. Recognize and promptly address litigationpotential,work cohesively with defensecounsel,andattend mediation and settlement conferences as needed. Participate incontinuingeducational programs to develop and maintain knowledge of products,procedures,and industry trends. Be willing to act as a CAT coordinator in assigned territory or elsewhere as directed by management. Be willing to help with supervisor workload or assist when supervisor is absent. Assist supervisor in field training for new adjusters. Give advice and assistance to new and current adjusters in areas where they may need more advanced help or training. This may involve work outside of assigned territory. Prepare claim files for arbitration by completing appropriate forms and specifying contentions. Submit appropriate files to conciliation/small claims court. Maintain control of files that go into suit and direct litigation management of those files if directed by regional claims manager or supervisor. Attend mediation proceedings at the request of file supervisor. This may involve attending mediations and settlement conferences outside of normally assigned territory. Responsible for the oversight of UFG’s Catastrophe Plan and an annual review and update as needed. Daily CAT duties includemonitoringcatographyreports for CAT activity. CATcoordinator for designated catastrophe in compliance with UFG’sCatastrophe Plan.
Education
Job Specifications:
High school diploma 2 or 4 year degree preferred
Certifications/Designations
AIC, SCLA or Legal Principles, CCLA and PCLA of the AEI series to be completed within 3 years if not already obtained. CPCU preferred. Meet the appropriate state licensing laws required to handle “multi-line” claims.
Experience
10+ years of multi-line claims experience
Working Conditions
Field assignments are assigned regularly. Some exposure to high stress/fast paced environment. Travel required as needed to complete assignments. Lifting/carrying up to 50lbs regularly. Required to climb ladders/roofs while in the field. Company vehicle and safety equipment assigned to persons in this role.
Pay Transparency Statement
UFG Insurance is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary range for this position is $103,221 - $136,105 annually, which represents the typical range for new hires in this role. Individual pay within this range will be determined based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, education, certifications, skills, internal equity, geography and market data.
