About
Piedmont Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team within our hospital-based respiratory care department. In this role, you will play a critical part in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care across a diverse patient population, including adults, geriatrics, and, depending on assignment, pediatric and neonatal patients. Working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and the interdisciplinary care team, you will assess, plan, and deliver respiratory care therapies in accordance with established clinical standards and Piedmont’s evidence-based protocols. The RRT will perform comprehensive respiratory assessments, interpret diagnostic data, and implement individualized treatment plans, including oxygen therapy, aerosolized medication administration, airway clearance techniques, and non-invasive and invasive ventilation management. You will be responsible for monitoring patient responses, adjusting therapies based on clinical condition and provider orders, and documenting all care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record. You will assist with and manage mechanically ventilated patients, perform ventilator weaning trials, respond to respiratory-related emergencies, and participate in rapid response and code teams as a key clinical resource. This position also includes performing and interpreting routine and advanced respiratory diagnostic procedures such as arterial blood gas sampling and analysis, bedside pulmonary function screening, pulse oximetry trending, and capnography monitoring. The RRT will ensure proper setup, calibration, operation, and maintenance of respiratory equipment, and will follow strict infection prevention and safety guidelines. You will collaborate closely with the care team to provide patient and family education on respiratory conditions, inhaler technique, home oxygen use, and self-management strategies to support safe transitions of care. At Piedmont Healthcare, you will be part of a non-profit health system dedicated to comprehensive, community-focused care. You will work in an environment that values respect, innovation, teamwork, and inclusion. RRTs are encouraged to participate in quality improvement projects, clinical initiatives, and continuing education to advance both patient outcomes and professional practice. You will have access to ongoing training, mentoring, and development programs that support clinical specialization, leadership pathways, and lifelong learning. The ideal candidate is a licensed RRT who demonstrates sound clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a strong commitment to patient safety and service excellence. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced acute care environment, prioritizing multiple patients, and adapting to changing clinical needs. Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, may be required to support 24/7 patient care. By joining Piedmont Healthcare, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patients and families across Georgia while growing your career within a supportive and collaborative healthcare system.
