Admissions Representative

The Admissions Representative is responsible for advising prospective students for admission to LECOM and for the collection/processing of all application documents and materials.

Characteristic job tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Responding to various communication inquiries regarding the admissions process;
  • Assisting with processing all applications and matriculation fees;
  • Assisting in the processing of various application information, supplemental applications, and supporting documentation;
  • Updating various applicant files and notifying students of application status;
  • Assisting with the planning and implementation of on-campus events related to admissions;
  • Scheduling and conducting campus tours;
  • Participating in the Applicant Interview process, including greeting applicants, assisting with presentationsetc.;
  • Assisting Admissions Committee on recording of decisions and informing applicants of post interview decisions;
  • Assisting in processing all applications for the Institutional Programs;
  • Keeping current accurate records of accepted applicants entering in new class including all demographics;
  • Participating in various annual college events: Commencement, White Coat Ceremony, Hospital Day, On-Campus Day, Orientation and Open Houses;
  • Supporting Admissions Representatives in all Programs;
  • Assisting incoming students with Matriculation Packet, and assuring its completion;
  • Serving as back up support to College Receptionist, on an as needed basis;
  • Providing student affairs support service for enrolled students;
  • Working with Directors of Graduate Studies Program and related faculty on testing and examinations;
  • Contributing to overall student success and participating in student events, including, but not limited to White Coat Ceremony and Commencement;
  • Contributing directly to the Mission of LECOM embodying the essence of Osteopathic Principles and Practices by assisting with Institutional fundraising and participating in the LECOM Scholarship Auction;
  • Being a representative of LECOM by being actively involved in the community, including, but not limited to, serving on Boards, participating in community fundraisers and overall outreach (with approval of Administration during working hours); and
  • Other duties as required/needed to maintain an efficient and effective Department.

Minimum requirements include:

  • Excellent writing, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills;
  • Good analytical and problemsolving skills;
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of organization, planning, records management and general administration;
  • Ability to communicate effectively;
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions;
  • Flexibility and ability to perform successfully when challenged by changing workflow priorities;
  • Excellent customer service skills;
  • Ability to gain and maintain confidence and cooperation of faculty, administration, and students;
  • Proficiency in the use of personal computers, audio/visual equipment, computer programs, such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet access; fax machine; photocopier; telephone; other office equipment;
  • Ability to be flexible to accept other duties needed/assigned for the Institution's needs;
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collegially with others, consistent with a workplace of dignity and respect and EEO rules and regulations;
  • Ability to report to work as scheduled, ready to devote full attention and energy to the important work of LECOM;
  • Ability to accept work directives from managers and supervisors in a respectful and cooperative manner;
  • Strong communications skills are essential as well as computer literacy (Word, PowerPoint and excel) and accurate data entry skills;
  • Excellence organizational skills must be accurate and attentive to detail;
  • Must be trained and certified on the Institutional Data System, Jenzabar. Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office Suite; and
  • General knowledge of or ability to learn Medical / Pharmacy / Dental Terminology and prior student interaction.

Minimum qualifications: Education and experience equivalent to: a high school degree or equivalent required. Associates and/or Bachelor's degree with a minimum of one (1) year employment experience at a postsecondary educational institution preferred. Educational experience or teaching experience welcome.
