Physical Therapy Assistant

Provide physical therapy treatment to patients in accordance with an established treatment plan as directed by a physical therapist. Demonstrate knowledge and ability to apply therapeutic principles and practices within the scope of professional limitations. Progress patients skillfully and safely through the levels of treatment within the maximum capabilities of the patient. Consult with supervising Physical Therapist regarding patient progress, changes in patient's condition, or with suggestions for revisions in treatment. Documents all treatments and other pertinent patient interactions in accordance with UHealth policies. Develop and maintain effective communication with the patient, family, and other members of the rehabilitation team. Provides relevant education and information to patients and families regarding medical conditions, home exercise programs and home activities. Utilizes treatment tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner. Maintains a satisfactory level of productivity and demonstrates willingness to adjust personal schedule in case of crisis and real clinic need. Participates in quality and safety improvement activities. Maintains confidentiality of all patient information according to federal, local, and state guidelines and regulations, with strict adherence to HIPPA regulations. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Assist in the maintenance of a clean and safe environment. Participate in quality and safety improvement activities as directed by the Departmental leadership. Participate in program development and marketing efforts as directed by the Departmental leadership. Orient, instruct and direct work activities for support personnel as appropriate. Actively pursue professional growth through professional affiliations with associates and attendance at workshops and conferences. Demonstrate punctuality, reliability and accountability in daily responsibilities. Maintains respectful and professional communication with patients, families and colleagues. Accepts feedback constructively and seeks guidance when needed. Aligns with organization goals and directives. Adheres to institutional policies, ethical standards, and patient confidentiality. Displays a positive attitude and willingness to learn in a team environment. Maintain timely compliance with organizational deadlines. Maintain "Constant State of Readiness" standards in the environment of care. Perform any other duties as directed by the Department Leadership.
