Medical Assistant

At Florida Orthopaedic Institute, Medical Assistants are more than clinical support, they are essential members of the patient care team. In this full-time role, you'll work directly with a provider to deliver efficient, high-quality orthopedic care in a fast-paced clinical environment. You'll assist with exams, procedures, and patient education while ensuring each individual feels supported and cared for throughout their visit.

$18.00 $25.00 per hour Compensation is based on experience, certification level, and relevant orthopedic or high-volume clinical background.

Clinical Support

  • Prepare exam rooms and ensure they are fully stocked and organized for the day
  • Escort patients to rooms, take vital signs, and update EMR with accurate documentation
  • Assist with in-office procedures including injections, dressing changes, and suture removals
  • Support provider during exams by anticipating needs and maintaining patient comfort
  • Educate patients on post-visit instructions and coordinate follow-ups as directed

Patient Flow & Teamwork

  • Collaborate with fellow CAs, providers, and administrative staff to keep the clinic running smoothly
  • Communicate clearly with patients and teammates to reduce delays and confusion
  • Float to nearby clinics as needed to support staffing coverage and team success

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure timely, accurate charting and quality measure completion in Athena EMR
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA standards
  • Participate in training, team huddles, and clinic initiatives as assigned

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • BLS certification (required within 90 days of hire and FOI offers in-house training)
  • Reliable transportation and flexibility to travel locally for training/coverage
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in orthopedics, trauma, or high-volume clinical settings
  • Familiarity with Athena EMR or similar systems
  • Prior experience assisting with procedures such as injections or suture removal
