At Sense, we don't just provide care, we champion independence, and we're looking for an Intervenor to join our South West Intervenor Service in Exeter, Devon, offering 14.35 per hour . The role is permanent at 17 hours per week , across two weekdays and one evening.
As an Intervenor, you'll provide one-to-one support toadults who are congenitally deafblind,deaf and/or blind; acting as an enabler, promoting independence, and facilitating communication with the world around them. You'll work across a range of settings includingbeing mainly basedin the community,peoples' own homes, a community centreor vocational environments.
A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle with business insurance applied are essential for this role (mileage reimbursed).
In this role, you'll be:- Providing one-to-one support tailored to each person's needs
- Supporting people to access their communities and take part in activities
- Encouraging independence and helping people to develop their social networks
- Advocating for the people you support and contributing to their person-centred plans
The role may also involve elements of personal care and supporting people through behaviours that can sometimes challenge, so a calm, patient, and resilient approach is important.
To be successful in this role, you'll need to:- Be warm, reliable, and consistent
- Be comfortable working across a variety of settings and with different people, and available across the required shift pattern
- Be confident in using your intitiative for lone working and work well as part of a team
- Have good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Be willing to complete Sense's Intervenor training within your first six months
- If not known, be willing to work towards becoming confident in British Sign Language Level 1+
