Job Summary

We are hiring a Hybrid, Float Medical Assistant to support our TEAM & Annual Wellness Visit Programs. Mass General Brigham's TEAM and Population Health practices are growing! This is a new role that supports a new provider as we launch a new program. This will also support a provider at NWH. The Medical Assistant position is Full Time with comprehensive benefits. This role includes onsite workdays weekly, in Somerville and NWH (Newton-Wellesley Hospital). TEAM supports Pre Op Optimization & 6 hospitals within MGB, one of which is Newton-Wellesley Hospital, where we need support! Mass General Brigham's Population Health team is committed to improving preventive care delivery for older adults through innovative, accessible, and patient-centered onsite in person and increased virtual care. You will support the new Annual Wellness Visit Program. You will also have the opportunity to support other programs, of similar patient populations, to support patient volumes. Under the direct supervision of a provider, the Population Health Medical Assistant plays a critical role in this mission by partnering with Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) to deliver seamless, high-quality virtual visits. Through careful preparation, documentation, and patient engagement, the PHSO Medical Assistant (MA) ensures each visit is efficient, comprehensive, and personalized to the patient's needs. This position supports the Population Health team's broader goal within the new program.

Qualifications

What You'll Bring

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] preferred
  • Certified Medical Assistant - Active Certification required
  • Direct MA experience or medical field work 1-2 years at least required
  • Experience with annual visits, rooming and supporting geriatric patients who receive Medicare benefits is a plus
  • Phlebotomy experience highly preferred

What You'll Support

TEAM supports Pre Op Optimization & 6 hospitals within MGB, one of which is Newton-Wellesley Hospital, where we need support!

The MA supports geriatric population and supports the provider. MA will conduct wellness visits virtually and in person. This role conducts virtual annual assessments.

Skills for Success

Duties include conducting initial assessment, rooming, vital signs, as well as risk assessment is important with patients to update provider on their history.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills are essential for success in this position.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in complex and busy environments.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Comply with all local, state, and federal privacy and confidentiality rules and regulations.
  • Ability to take vital signs and manual blood pressure, as well as collect blood samples and other specimens.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and protocols.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical office software.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Managing one's own time and the time of others

For TEAM Thursdays onsite:

  • Room the patient
  • Take vital signs and document in Epic patient record
  • Perform EKG and upload to Epic patient record
  • Supply and stock the patient room with MRSA / MSSA swabs
  • Collect completed MRSA/MSSA swabs and sent to testing
  • Perform labs and send for testing
  • Phlebotomy experience/training

Working Model Requirements

  • M-F Eastern Business Hours, based on provider schedule, usually 8am or 830am ET start time
  • Onsite Newton-Wellesley Hospital, Monday, Thursday, and Friday weekly in practice
  • Onsite Assembly Row, every other Tuesday, Virtual appointments with patients
  • Must be flexible for business needs 3-4x weekly onsite or as needed
  • Remote workdays require stable, secure, quiet, compliant work station with your MGB secured equipment

Mon, Thur, Fri weekly, are in practice, 2000 Washington St, Newton, MA 02462 Blue Bldg., Suite 100. In practice MA duties with patients, rooming, labs and vitals. TEAM supports Pre Op Optimization & hospitals within MGB, the MA is assigned to Newton Wellesley.
