Your skills could be critical in helping our teams accelerate progress. Join our Formulation and Process Development department as a committed Senior Data Scientist (m/f/d) and you’ll be part of our innovative team which is responsible for drug product and process development from early development to launch. We are working on the improvement of our development processes creating E2E workflows supported by artificial intelligence and computational science with the aim to develop next-generation biologic drug products.

Main responsibilities:

• Development and implementation of computational and AI-based methods to support our development processes and workflows.
• Analyzing and defining the department’s needs and developing customized digital solutions.
• Participate and envision and shape the future digital direction of the department.
• Close collaboration with global data science teams to envision, develop and bring business cases to live.
• Communicating and collaborating with partner departments in Germany, France, and the US.
• Training and educating the team (technicians, lab leaders, and section heads) in the use and mindset of AI tools.
• Supporting the global implementation pilot projects.

About you

We are seeking a visionary and passionate Data or Computational Scientist to join our Formulation and Process Development department. We offer several opportunities for you to support our digital ambition, and we will make the best use of your skills and interests. It is not required to have expertise in all technical skills listed below. If you have a sound track record in one of the areas in addition to strong Python programming skills, we are looking forward to your application.

• Experience:Track record in the development of computational methods in life sciences preferably in pharmaceutical industry
• Technical skills:
  • Proficiency in Python(/R), and related libraries for machine & deep learning and data science.
  • Expertise in computational methods for protein analysis and optimization (e.g. molecular simulations & related software tools).
  • Familiarity with protein structure or sequence featurization/embeddings and protein language models.
  • Ability to develop, benchmark, and apply predictive algorithms.
  • Experience in handling, curating, and managing biological data sets.
  • Expertise in developing and maintaining data pipelines and automated data workflows.
• Soft skills
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to convey complex scientific topics clearly.
  • Willingness to thoroughly understand and dive into specific processes and requirements of drug product development.
  • Ability and passion to collaborate with others in international environment, self-development with a focus on scientific know-how, and sharing knowledge.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.
  • Can-Do mentality paired with a strong will to foster transformation.
• Education:
  • Ph. D. or M.Sc. degree in a field of computational life sciences, AI/ML, or data science (e.g. bioinformatics, computer science, biophysics, computational biology, or life sciences with strong expertise in data science).
• Languages: Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and German
