Position Description Our client owns and operates several hydroelectric power plants across Ireland. As a responsible organisation, they are committed to sustainable practices and minimising the environmental impact of their operations. Their Sustainable River Strategy (SRS) aims to improve fish passage infrastructure, enhance river connectivity, increase fish abundance across hydro rivers, and adopt a Nature Positive Approach (NPA) on owned riversides and lakesides. The successful candidate will assume a role as Project Engineer, coordinating and managing improvement projects for fisheries assets across Hydroelectric Power Stations. The role sits within the Operations team and is responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable management of all improvement projects outlined within the Sustainable Rivers Strategy. The successful candidate will be a team player and self-starter with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines. They will also demonstrate the ability to communicate and engage effectively with staff at all levels of the organisation. Manage engineering projects from initial concept through design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover. Develop and manage project scopes, specifications, schedules, budgets, and risk registers. Ensure projects are delivered in line with agreed time, cost, quality, and performance targets. Prepare technical evaluations and support tendering, contractor selection, and contract award processes. Contractor management including site inspections and site supervision. Review Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and associated Health & Safety documentation before work commences. Contribute to the review and upkeep of project drawings and document management systems. Coordinate project delivery within Hydropower Stations and manage the interface between contractors and station staff. Ensure all project activities comply with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality legislation, standards, and company procedures. Actively promote and support a strong safety culture across projects and contractor activities. Essential Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or relevant discipline). Demonstrated experience in engineering project delivery. Strong understanding of project management principles. Knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation and best practice. Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and report-writing skills. Strong IT skills (MS Office and engineering/project systems as applicable). Desirable Knowledge of power generation, utilities, or similar regulated environments. Essential Engineering or equivalent degree. Full driving licence. Flexibility to travel nationally is required for this role.
