Position Summary

The Relief Driver / Direct Care Assistant II (DCA II) is a dual-role position responsible for providing safe, non-medical transportation and direct hands-on care to male and female residents with severe and/or profound developmental disabilities.

When assigned as a Driver, the employee provides safe transportation using company vehicles, including passenger vans and wheelchair-accessible vans, while ensuring the health, safety, and dignity of all residents.

When not performing driving responsibilities, the employee functions as a Direct Professional Position, providing personal care, implementing individual plans, supporting skill development, and maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.

Pay Rates & Available Shifts

1st shift (Monday-Friday, 7a-3:30p). Hours may vary based on resident appointment needs. The base pay is $19.75 per hour, with an additional $1.00/hour differential on days as a driver.

Essential Job Duties

  • Safely transport residents using company vehicles (vans, wheelchair vans, shuttles)
  • Operate wheelchair lifts and secure mobility devices properly
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and complete documentation
  • Assist residents with daily living needs, personal care, and community outings
  • Respond appropriately in emergencies and follow safety procedures
  • Provide direct care and supervision to residents in a residential healthcare setting
  • Assist with personal hygiene, mobility, feeding, and daily living activities
  • Support residents in achieving individual goals and fostering independence
  • Follow care plans, policies, and procedures
  • Build positive, trusting relationships by upholding confidentiality and dignity

Requirements

  • Must be 21 or older
  • Valid Ohio Driver's License (max 5 points) and clean driving record
  • Valid auto insurance
  • At least 3 years of driving experience
  • Able to provide a driver's abstract
  • Must pass a BCI/FBI background check and not be on any abuse registries
  • Strong attendance record
  • Must complete:
    • Driving test with Director of Facilities and Safety
    • Wheelchair securement training
    • CPR & First Aid certification
