The
Senior Project Manager – new gTLD Program
will serve as the project manager for various projects in the Next Round of the new gTLDs Program. The Senior PM will work directly with the project leads to manage the project team, providing the structure, tools, and processes to enable the project team to successfully deliver the scope of the project and achieve project objectives.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
Manages all day-to-day operational aspects of project and scope
Lead the definition of project scope and goals in collaboration with team leads, senior management and stakeholders
Responsible for coordinating all activities of the project team through the project lifecycle and identifying appropriate resources needed
Support the Project Lead to manage the team assigned to the project to deliver the scope of work assigned
Responsible for creating project management artifacts for the project including scope, schedule, resource plan, budget, risk/issues/decision log, status report, action logs, etc.
Coordinate project meetings, monitor and control the project within the governance model of the Next Round Program
Collaborate with other Next Round project leads and PMs for integration and dependency management
Work under the direction and oversight of the program leadership team and align ways of working within the defined program delivery methodology and tools
Develop and manage schedules to ensure timely completion of projects
Develop project timeline, including milestones with a clear deliverable(s) at each stage. Track progress, monitor and communicate project status regularly
Identify and resolve issues hindering progress and completion of projects
Utilize and train the project team on relevant project management software/tools used to manage and track the progress of projects
Provide planning and resource allocation services that support the project schedule
Track status of the project to include schedule, risks, issues, action items and trade-offs and reports on status to the project team and senior management
Support the preparation of progress reports, standardized reporting procedures, and the monitoring of overall project performance

Strong project management skills and knowledge of project management best practices
Proven ability to prepare clear and concise reports, analyses and presentations
Proven ability to analyze processes and recommend compelling process improvements
Quantitative skills and ability to develop budgets, resource forecasts, performance metrics and other quantitative means of expressing progress
Must be able to work within a budget and with limited resources
Ability to work productively and effectively with diverse, distributed cross-functional ICANN staff
Create and execute project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
Effectively applies PM methodology and enforces project standards
Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion
Identifies opportunities for improvement and makes constructive suggestions for change
Excellent communication and time management skills are essential
Ability to work independently (self‑motivated)
Detail‑oriented and organized with the ability to multitask
Experience leading projects with business process design components which are enabled through technology solutions
Experience in: Google Suite, Office Suite, Smartsheet, and Project Planning tools
Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor degree in related field preferred
Minimum ten (10) years project management related planning experience and cross‑functional management experience
Minimum of five (5) years of project/program manager experience
Project Manager Certification (such as PMP) preferred
Language
Fluency, both written and spoken, in English is required
Fluent written and spoken language skills in any of the other official United Nations languages is strongly preferred
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
Work will be performed remotely and will require use of ICANN computer equipment including a laptop, Zoom meetings, and other software tools
