We're currently seeking a full-time Design Manager in our West Jordan, UT office. This is an in-office position. The Design Manager is responsible for leading and managing the Design Team in support of design, drafting, construction estimating support, shop drawings, and Epic Map-related deliverables. This position oversees department budgeting, workload planning, team performance, monthly reporting, process improvement, and cross-department coordination. The Design Manager works closely with Project Managers, Sales, Operations, Construction, and leadership to ensure project requirements are clearly understood, design-related deliverables are completed accurately and on time, and department goals align with overall business objectives. Duties Include: Lead and manage the Design Team responsible for design, drafting, construction estimating support, shop drawings, and Epic Map-related deliverables. Manage monthly and annual department budgeting, including forecasting workload, resource needs, staffing capacity, and project-related design costs. Monitor department performance against budget, deadlines, accuracy goals, and deliverable expectations. Prepare and present monthly reporting related to design accuracy, project deliverables, workload, timelines, department performance, and process improvement opportunities. Coordinate closely with Project Managers, Sales team members, Operations, Construction, and other departments to ensure project requirements are clearly understood and design-related deliverables are properly executed. Support Project Managers with construction estimating-related information, design input, drawing clarification, and project documentation as needed. Identify gaps in current processes and recommend improvements to increase accuracy, reduce rework, improve turnaround times, and strengthen communication between departments Assist in resolving design conflicts, project scope questions, drawing discrepancies, field issues, and coordination challenges. Maintain effective communication with internal stakeholders to ensure project priorities, risks, changes, and deadlines are clearly communicated. Monitor team performance, provide feedback, and identify opportunities for coaching, training, and professional development. Support hiring, onboarding, and training of new employees within the department. Establish and maintain department processes, procedures, standards, and best practices. Communicate department priorities, updates, challenges, and performance results to leadership and other stakeholders. Manage department resources, workload, and staffing needs to support business goals. Requirements Strong leadership and team management skills. Experience managing design, drafting, shop drawing, construction support, or related project deliverables. Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, priorities, and stakeholder expectations. Strong understanding of construction drawings, shop drawings, design documentation, and project coordination processes. Ability to review information for accuracy, completeness, and consistency. Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple departments. Ability to identify process gaps and recommend practical improvements. Strong problem-solving skills related to design conflicts, scope questions, field issues, and project coordination challenges. Experience with budgeting, forecasting, workload planning, and department reporting. Ability to coach, train, and develop team members. Proficiency with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Salesforce, Microsoft Office, and related business systems. Preferred Experience Construction and shop drawing experience. Experience leading or supervising a design, drafting, or construction support team. Experience working with Project Managers, Sales teams, Operations, Construction, and other internal departments to support project execution and deliverables Experience preparing monthly reports, tracking deliverables, and monitoring department performance metrics.
