The Role
Under the supervision of the Chief Operating Officer, the Client Services Driver primary area of responsibility is to transport the residents of AIDS Services of Dallas to and from medical appointments, public schools and other agencies providing supportive services. Assists residents who are not physically capable of using public modes of transportation.


What You'll Do
This role is critical to the day-to-day lives of our clients and is a key part of our Client Services Team.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain all van paperwork (i.e. sign-in sheet, log mileage, and van log book), delivering to the main office on a daily basis.

  • Check-in during office hours for time schedule, map and other pertinent information.

  • Report, in confidence, any problems or concerns you may have to the ASD office.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and operational vehicle by conducting routine vehicle inspections, reporting maintenance needs, and following all safety and sanitation protocols.

  • Follow established transportation schedules, communicate delays or changes promptly, and coordinate effectively with case managers and other staff.

  • Assist residents with entering and exiting the vehicle, including the safe handling of mobility aids/wheelchairs, personal belongings, or adaptive equipment as needed.

  • Ensure compliance with all organizational policies, traffic laws, and safety regulations at all times.

  • Document transportation activity accurately, including mileage logs, appointment confirmations, incident reports, and any resident concerns observed during transport.

  • Demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and respect in all interactions with residents, colleagues, and community partners.

  • Support emergency or same-day transportation needs as directed by the COO or Case Management team.

  • Maintain confidentiality of resident information in accordance with HIPAA, HUD/HOPWA guidelines, and ASD policies.

Qualifications & Requirements


Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Previous experience working with vulnerable or special-needs populations preferred.

  • Experience in transportation services, social services, or residential support settings is a plus.


Licensure and Driving Requirements

  • Must possess a valid and insurable Texas Driver's License.

  • Clean driving record with a demonstrated history of safe driving practices, free of suspensions.

  • Ability to operate a 15-passenger vehicle and provide preventative maintenance checks on the vehicle.

  • Must maintain an acceptable driving record in accordance with ASD – A Home For Life's insurance requirements.

  • Familiarity with safe driving practices, defensive driving, and transportation of passengers with mobility challenges is preferred.

  • Ability to safely assist residents in entering and exiting the vehicle, including those with mobility limitations.

  • Must be physically able to lift, push, pull, or otherwise move objects weighing at least 50 pounds.

  • Ability to assist with emergency evacuation procedures and respond quickly and safely during urgent situations.

  • Must be able to navigate stairways and access emergency alarm equipment without delay.

  • Demonstrated sensitivity and responsiveness to culturally, racially, and sexually diverse resident, staff, and volunteer populations.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and a commitment to serving vulnerable populations.

  • Must successfully complete background checks, drug screening, and any required training or certifications.

  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including occasional adjusted hours to meet resident needs.

Plan for Continued Training

  • The incumbent in this position is expected to participate in all required and recommended agency training and professional development programs. Ongoing training will support compliance with organizational policies, enhance service delivery, and ensure the safe and effective performance of transportation and resident-support responsibilities.
