Job Title Assistant/Associate Professor - Graduate Programs in Nursing Practice Position Summary
The Graduate Programs in Nursing Practice faculty member is responsible for
course development and teaching (including clinical supervision as
appropriate) in online Graduate Nursing Practice programs. Responsibilities include assisting the
Program Director in developing courses within an innovative curriculum,
delivering instruction within scope of expertise, helping to ensure adherence
to accreditation and regulatory expectations, developing clinical practicum
partnerships, advising students as assigned, and assisting with program
evaluation and learning outcomes assessment as appropriate. Applicants
must be open to including evidence-based, complementary, and integrative
approaches as appropriate in courses taught, and support a culture of self-care
for students.
Participating in all School, and University-wide operations are also required.
All graduate faculty are required to contribute to scholarly and service-related
activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develops, implements, maintains, and evaluates the graduate nursing program curriculum
courses as assigned.
Prepares learning experiences and delivers instruction for online graduate
level nursing courses.
Develops clinical practicum partnerships and supervises students in clinical
practicum experiences as appropriate and assigned.
Advises students at the graduate level as appropriate and as assigned.
Participates in faculty practice as a form of scholarship and service.
Within twelve months, teach courses in fall, spring, and summer semesters.
Adheres to the established class schedule and office hours requirements.
Submits contracts, book requests, syllabi, grades, evaluations, and other
required paperwork and reports in a timely manner.
Participates in grant projects that support innovation in graduate nursing education and
practice.
Participates in accreditation activities as appropriate.
Education, Certifications and/or Licenses
Earned doctorate in nursing, board certification as a Family
Nurse Practitioner, and unencumbered APRN licensein Texas are required.
Experience
Experience as a faculty member in a nursing higher education program is
required. Experience as a faculty member for a graduate nursing program is
preferred. Experience in online education and using Canvas as a
learning management system is preferred. Experience as a practicing
Family Nurse Practitioner is required. On-going certification during
employment is required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of:
* Thorough understanding of Family Nurse Practitioner practice models,
national standards, professional issues and their application.
* Thorough understanding of the Doctor of Nursing Practice degree and Evidence-Based Practice and Quality Improvement Scholarly Project development, implementation, and evaluation.
* Thorough understanding of effective pedagogical approaches.
* Basic understanding of online educational approaches.
* Familiarity with academic policies and procedures of higher education
institutions.
* Thorough understanding of the rules, standards, regulations and laws
related to student and patient information and records including FERPA and
HIPPA.
Skill in:
* Ability to develop new Graduate Nursing courses with innovative approaches that value
relationship-centered and whole-person care.
* Ability to develop and work with an inter-professional team to bring
concepts of mind-body-spirit connections, relationship-centered patient
care, self-care, and practice management to the curriculum.
* Ability to model desired professional practice.
* Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse
community.
* Ability to demonstrate and provide excellent service to both the University
and the community.
* Ability to work effectively with other University personnel.
