Behavior Support Specialist
Best Point Education & Behavioral Health is hiring a Behavior Support Specialist to support students with behavioral needs in a school-based setting. If you're experienced in behavior intervention, crisis support, and thrive in fast-paced environments where no two days are the same this is the perfect opportunity for you! This is a hands-on, high-impact role for professionals who want their work to change lives in real time.
What You'll Do
    • Provide hands-on classroom and crisis support, including de-escalation and physical intervention when needed to maintain safety
    • Step in to support classrooms when coverage is needed, including assisting in the absence of an Educational Aide
    • Monitor and support the In-School Success (ISS) room as assigned
    • Help develop, implement, and adjust behavior plans, strategy sheets, FBAs, and BIPs
    • Coach and model best practices for teachers and classroom staff during real-time situations
    • Serve as a behavior intervention expert, ensuring consistency and fidelity across classrooms
    • Lead and participate in daily debriefs focused on student progress and behavior plan effectiveness
    • Collect, communicate, and document behavioral data to support individualized interventions
    • Complete required documentation including incident reports, restraint reports, assessments, and progress tracking
    • Participate in staff trainings, program refreshers, and Pre-Service workshops in areas of expertise
    • Collaborate closely with school leadership, therapists, and education teams to support student success
    • Act as a positive role model for students, promoting emotional regulation, social skills, and appropriate boundaries

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Comfortable responding to behavioral crises and high-stress situations
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and coaching skills
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role (lifting up to 50 lbs, crisis interventions)
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office / Windows)

Compensation & Benefits:
  • $20-$21 for Bachelors and $21-23 for Masters

Work Environment: Exposed to a combination of office, school and mental health treatment environments. Exposed to children with behavior problems. May be exposed to shouting and clients who may be verbally and physically aggressive. May be exposed to blood or vomit and bodily fluids.
