The Director of Nursing is responsible for the overall administration and supervision of the Nursing Program. This includes ensuring the fulfillment of educational goals and objectives, maintaining program compliance with Middle States Standards, maintaining Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON) approval, and maintaining full accreditation through the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) for the Associate Degree in Nursing. This position supports the Nursing programs at the College and develops and implements Nursing-related projects from concept inception through execution and evaluation by engaging faculty and other internal and external stakeholders. The Director of Nursing works collegially with the Health, Wellness & Hospitality Dean to ensure student progression, retention, and program completion, and promotes innovation and creativity in teaching and learning.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
* Minimum of a master's degree in nursing.
* Minimum of 5 years of full-time teaching experience in Nursing in an accredited institution of higher education.
* Active R.N. licensure or eligibility for active R.N. licensure in Maryland.
* Doctoral degree preferred
* Academic preparation and/or experience in administration.
* Previous administrative, supervisory, and/or leadership experience preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
* Ensure ongoing program accreditation with the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and program approval with the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON).
* Ensure Nursing Program is compliant with all federal, state, and local regulations related to Nursing and Nursing Education.
* Provide oversight to the Nursing Retention Success Coach, Nursing Course Team Leaders, Academic Coordinators, Laboratory Coordinators and Clinical Coordinator(s).
* Oversee coordination of all certificates and degree programs offered in the Nursing Department.
* Oversee the clinical education component of the Nursing Program, in collaboration with the Allied Health Program Coordinators and Dean and Associate Dean of Health, Wellness & Hospitality to ensure compliance with affiliated agency requirements.
* Prepare class, laboratory, and clinical schedules for the nursing program courses (lab section, number of students, dates, clinical units, days, hours, and faculty) and ensure adequate sites based on student enrollment.
* Work with the Dean and Assistant Dean of Health, Wellness, and Hospitality on the development of a data-informed and student-centered master schedule to ensure clear pathways for student completion, meet the needs of students, and maximize space.
* Determine the student-teacher ratio based on the objectives of the course, method of instruction used and the requirements of the faculty.
* Determine the number of faculty, including clinical faculty needed based on the number and academic level of enrolled students, curriculum, activities and responsibilities required of the faculty and the number and location of clinical facilities.
* Support the Associate Dean and Dean of Health, Wellness & Hospitality to oversee the promotion, organization, coordination, and evaluation of the courses and curricula of the division.
* Work with faculty to map educationally coherent pathways with clearly defined learning outcomes that are aligned with students' end goals.
* Work with faculty to plan for curriculum additions, revisions, and deletions; set priorities for resource needs; provide program analysis.
* Work collaboratively with the Dean of Health, Wellness & Hospitality to hire full-time faculty in accordance with college policy and procedures.
* Collaborate with the Assistant Dean of Health, Wellness & Hospitality to develop sufficient credit course part-time faculty pools.
* Coordinate workload for full-time and part-time faculty and staff assigned to the Nursing Program in collaboration with the Dean, Associate, Dean, and Assistant Dean; prepare recommendations for faculty appointments to meet the needs of the Nursing Program.
* Provide input to the Dean on work performance of faculty and staff assigned to the Nursing Program.
* Promote full and adjunct faculty engagement in department, division, and College activities; encourage faculty participation in college governance, committees, task forces, and initiatives.
* Recommend and implement professional development that meets the needs of departmental faculty.
* Lead and coordinate departmental planning in concert with the divisions and College's strategic plan.
* Develop and implement, in conjunction with faculty and division administrators, departmental strategies focused on student retention and graduation.
* Interpret and apply College policy for departmental staff, faculty, and students.
* Convene monthly department meetings to address department, division, and College strategic initiatives.
* Serve as a liaison between the faculty and administration.
* Represent the College as a member of the Maryland Council of Deans and Directors of Nursing Programs, Maryland Association of associate degree Nursing Directors and other state-wide groups.
* Serve on discipline-specific external committees, or recommend designee, as appropriate.
* Collaborate with Student Affairs regarding programs and services that impact the Nursing Department (e.g. competitive, admissions process, advising).
