About the role
We are looking for a Senior Front-End Engineer to join our Design Systems and play a key role in helping evolve our core foundations across products. As the senior front-end engineer, you will collaborate with a team of experienced engineers and designers to create innovative solutions focused on the underlying system that powers our user experiences — from tokens and typography to color, patterns, and component architecture. You will also have the opportunity to shape the roadmap for our internal applications and mobile app, driving impactful projects from concept to completion. Working closely with product managers, operations teams, and other engineering teams, you\'ll influence the design and functionality of the experience that all of our members use every day. The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $164,000 and up to $227,000. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. Exercise technical leadership for high-impact projects Advocate for and implement best practices in UX development, ensuring a seamless and consistent user experience across all our applications Implement product features and provide support or work with backend engineers to define and integrate platform APIs Mentor, document, and share knowledge as part of your immediate team as well as through Chime Engineering as a whole Foster collaboration across engineering teams to create reusable, scalable solutions, contributing to architecture blueprints that benefit the entire organization. Lead projects by defining timelines, managing scope, overseeing development, and ensuring quality Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by actively participating in sprint ceremonies and process refinement Participate in a community of practice (guild) around how our frontend ecosystem is architected, developed, tested, deployed, and released. Deep knowledge and ability to navigate all aspects of front-end development, with 6+ years of active web and/or mobile development experience with React, React Native and Typescript Demonstrated ability to be a team player as well as a top-level individual contributor in a cross-functional environment, collaborating with engineers, designers and product managers Work across the stack (React Native, Native iOS/Android, GraphQL API, CI/Build systems) Familiarity with modern front-end build pipelines and tooling and web front end technologies and frameworks Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions and rationale Desire to drive engineering culture within your immediate team, as well as within the larger organization Strong leadership skills and the ability to work with cross-functional partners to define requirements, manage scope, and execute on software projects Proficiency in writing thorough and effective tests for your code, including unit tests and integration tests, along with experience in rolling out features through a gradual process, closely monitoring their impact and scaling up through a slow ramp to ensure stability and performance.
