Speech-Language Pathologist

Open Competitive Recruitment Assignments in this classification are 9.25 months per year and 6 hours per day. Position includes district-paid health and welfare benefits for the employee. Minimum Requirements: Current registration and certification by the State of California Department of Consumer Affairs Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology at the time of application. Incumbents must maintain current registration throughout employment in this classification. Any combination of education, training and/or experience that could likely provide the required desired skills, knowledge or abilities may be considered. A minimum six months experience working with individuals with speech and language disabilities in a structured environment is highly desirable. Employment in this classification requires the possession of a valid State of California Class C driver's license; use of a personal automobile; and the ability to be insured and maintain vehicle and property damage insurance.

Hiring for this position is on an as-needed basis and could occur at anytime during a school year. There is no regular exam or hiring schedule. A review of applicants' experience and qualifications is conducted periodically. Based on that evaluation, a limited number of applicants whose qualifications best meet the current needs of the District will be invited to participate in the next step of the examination process. The examination will include a technical interview. Interested individuals who meet the minimum requirements are encouraged to submit applications as soon as possible in order to be included in the next group to be reviewed. Applications older than six months may not be reviewed. Applicants who are qualified and interested in pursuing potential opportunities may re-submit their applications.

Prior to employment, a candidate must submit proof of freedom from tuberculosis. Also required after an offer of employment are a pre-employment physical exam (district-paid) and fingerprint clearance with the Department of Justice.
