Job Purpose:
A Goodwill donation attendant is responsible for accepting, sorting, and organizing donated items at Goodwill stores or donation centers.
Qualifications:
Education: No formal education is required.
Experience: No experience is necessary.
Clearances: Must be able to obtain acceptable results for required background checks, including Act 151 Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance and Pennsylvania Criminal History Check. Goodwill will pay for these clearances.
Supervision Received:
The Team Member functions under the direction of the Store Manager.
Skills, Abilities, Duties, and Responsibilities:
- Attendants welcome donors, provide receipts, and offer assistance with unloading donations from vehicles
- Inspect donated items to ensure they meet safety and quality standards. This may include checking for damages or items that cannot be accepted
- Categorize items, such as clothing, furniture, electronics, and household goods. They organize donations to prepare them for display in the store
- Assign prices to items based on guidelines provided by Goodwill. They need to have a good understanding of the value of different items
- Responsible for maintaining cleanliness in the donation area and ensuring donated items are stored neatly
- Prepares shipments prior to truck arrival. Assists truck drivers with loading and unloading
- Sprays furniture to sanitize when processing
- Need to follow Goodwill's policies and procedures, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for donors and customers
- Ability to perform basic job duties with a minimal amount of supervision, exercising good judgment and initiative
- Operating a pallet jack and stacker, if applicable
- Utilizing the UKG systems by clocking in and out and submitting timesheets on time.
- Completing all required training throughout the year
- Work congenitally and effectively with other Goodwill store employees and agency employees.
- Maintain hygiene and grooming standards
- Communicate clearly, verbally and in writing
- Ability to work a flexible schedule on short notice, including evenings, weekends, holidays and occasionally long hours (more than 8 hours)
- Must be dependable in attendance and punctuality
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 30 lbs. frequently
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs. occasionally, (material handling equipment can be used to minimize effort expended, when practical)
- Ability to perform prolonged walking and standing
- Ability to perform frequent bending, stooping, and stretching
- Vision and hearing corrected to within normal limits
