About

Backend Engineer, IBM Corporation, Austin, Texas (Up to 40% telecommuting permitted): Develop high-level product specifications with attention to system integration and feasibility. Define all aspects of development, from appropriate technology and workflow to coding standards. Communicate all concepts and guidelines successfully to the development team. Collaborate with other professionals to determine functional and non-functional requirements for new software or applications. Provide support for production escalations and problem resolution for customers. Analyze requirements, design, develop, and maintain software products in alignment with the organization's technology strategy. Participate in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, designs, code, and other artifacts. Plan, develop, and manage the infrastructure to enable strategic and effective use of tools. Lead the evaluation and evolution of tools, technologies, and programs with input from internal teams and external developers. Identify issues and improvement opportunities. Direct resources to diagnose and resolve complex system, application software, security, and related problems that impact system availability. Utilize: Software Defined Networking (SDN), Cloud architecture, Multithreaded programming, Linux, Docker and Kubernetes, TCP/IP, C and C++. Required: Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related (employer will accept a Bachelor's degree plus five (5) years of progressive experience in lieu of a Master’s degree) and one (1) year of experience as a Software Engineer or related. One (1) year of experience must include utilizing Software Defined Networking (SDN), Cloud architecture, Multithreaded programming, Linux, Docker and Kubernetes, TCP/IP, C and C++. $257476 to $263200 per year.
