About
Responsibilities:
- Review detailed technical specifications for the control of large marine and naval power converters that capture customer requirements.
- Maintain ownership of all engineering artifacts associated with specific power converters on projects including software specifications, control specifications, software, control drawings, software, factory acceptance test procedures, and commissioning instructions.
- Interface with Sourcing and Purchasing to ensure suppliers products are meeting specifications.
- Interface with the Manufacturing and Test departments to ensure the power converters controls are fit for purpose.
- Create models of the power electronic controls for use by power systems engineers for performing power quality studies and system stability studies.
- Support sales by reviewing new customer requirements and highlighting differences/gaps between those requirements and power converter control capabilities.
- Collaborate with other GE PC businesses to understand power converter technologies and software employed at those factories in order to incorporate into requirements to satisfy customers in North America.
- Develop real time software and hardware in the loop systems for simulating and testing complex customer requirements.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics or similar from an accredited university.
- Minimum 3 Years’ experience in power electronics, power conversion, and/or naval power systems.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Willingness to travel up to 20%. Domestic and international.

Desired Characteristics:
- Master’s degree in engineering from an accredited university or a Professional Engineer or equivalent proven record of continuous professional development.
- 5 years of experience in the naval, marine, or offshore industry.
- US Citizen with ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.
- Self-motivated and intellectually curious, with a strong sense of ownership and the initiative to drive tasks forward without being prompted
- Exceptional communicator who can distill complex technical concepts for diverse audiences, while remaining approachable and collaborative across all levels of the organization
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines while fostering team cohesion, morale, and an inclusive, energizing work environment
- Understanding of control for LCI, DC and cycloconverters.
- Familiar with LTSpice.
- Detailed working knowledge of the GE PC P80i programming environment.
- Familiar with Matlab/PLECS, or other modeling tools.
- Have deep domain knowledge of semiconductor devices (Thyristor and transistor based) and their application to large power converters, with an emphasis control theory.
- Deep understanding of the control of voltage source and current sourced power converters
