Location: Minneapolis, MN
Schedule: Onsite
Compensation: $70,000-$95,000
Role Overview
The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for leading and developing a high-performing AP team while overseeing end-to-end payables operations. This role ensures vendor data integrity, timely and accurate invoice processing, payment execution, regulatory reporting, and strong internal controls. The position partners cross-functionally across the organization and maintains regular interaction with leadership to support operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable Operations
  • Oversee daily AP activities to ensure invoices are reviewed, approved, and processed accurately and on schedule
  • Maintain and strengthen vendor relationships through responsive, service-oriented communication
  • Review and authorize payment runs in accordance with internal policies and approval thresholds
  • Monitor unmatched or pending transactions and drive timely resolution
  • Maintain vendor records, including onboarding, updates, and compliance documentation
  • Coordinate annual tax reporting activities, including required vendor filings
  • Perform and review monthly reconciliations related to payables and accrual accounts
  • Track, analyze, and report AP performance metrics to support operational visibility
Corporate Card Administration
  • Manage company purchasing and fuel card programs
  • Onboard new users, adjust limits, and deactivate accounts as needed
  • Conduct periodic audits to ensure compliance with usage policies
  • Respond to cardholder questions and support program enhancements
People Leadership & Development
  • Lead, coach, and mentor the AP team to drive engagement and performance
  • Establish team goals and support individual development plans
  • Cross-train team members to promote coverage and flexibility
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback
Governance, Controls & Compliance
  • Ensure AP processes align with company policies, GAAP standards, and internal control requirements
  • Maintain and update documentation for all key processes and workflows
  • Support internal and external audit requests, including compliance testing
Process Improvement & Projects
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of AP operations
  • Use data and metrics to assess workload, performance, and improvement initiatives
  • Lead or support special projects as assigned
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2+ years of people leadership experience within accounts payable or accounting operations
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage competing priorities, and partner cross-functionally
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel
  • Experience working within ERP systems (specific platforms not required)
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls; compliance experience preferred
