A leading multidisciplinary building services consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineer to support the continued growth of their Cambridge office.
This role will involve leading the mechanical delivery of technically challenging projects across science & research, healthcare, education, commercial and specialist sectors, with a strong pipeline of refurbishment and retrofit work.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative multidisciplinary team environment with excellent long-term progression opportunities.
The Role
Responsibilities will include:
* Mechanical building services design and project delivery
* Managing projects through RIBA Stages 3 & 4
* Producing and reviewing technical designs and specifications
* Coordinating with internal disciplines and external stakeholders
* Mentoring junior engineers and supporting team development
* Client liaison and attendance at design meetings
* Supporting project delivery, commercial performance and technical quality
At Principal level, there will also be increased involvement in:
* Team leadership
* Resource planning
* Bid support and fee input
* Project financial oversight
* Line management responsibilities
Requirements
* Building services consultancy experience is essential
* Strong mechanical/HVAC design background
* Experience across sectors such as healthcare, laboratories, education or commercial projects
* Familiarity with retrofit and refurbishment projects
* Good knowledge of industry standards and regulations
* Revit/AutoCAD experience preferred
* Strong communication and coordination skills
Salary & Benefits
* Senior level typically £45K-£50K
* Hybrid working (3 days office)
* 9-day working fortnight – option to work slightly longer hours Monday to Friday across a two-week period, allowing employees to take every other Friday off while maintaining full salary
